Joey Recker was raised In Southwest Georgia and lives in Plains, GA. At 9 years old he would sneak into the unlocked church a few miles from his home to play Gospel music and Billy Joel on the church piano. His mother forbid him to go to the church alone, but he continued until he was caught by the church pianist who offered to give him piano lessons. Nothing could stop Joey from singing and playing! He performed in high school and college show choirs and jazz bands until joining the military in 1985. Joey started tuning and repairing pianos in 2004. As a musician, he takes pride in not only making your instrument sound good, but making it feel and play like it should. He continued to play in local bands, like “Dixie Rhythm” , ”Drivin’ Country” and Slaughter Creek while serving his country. In 2015, Joey retired after 28 years of service at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
After retirement, Joey decided to re-dedicate himself to his music and started playing local bars and restaurants. In 2017, Joey was “discovered” in a South Georgia Bar playing and singing for local music lovers and toured nationally with Confederate Railroad for six years between 2017 until 2021. After retiring from Confederate Railroad, Joey continues to entertain regionally.
